FLY-TIPPING ON SALISBURY PLAIN

Reported in the October 2007 MOD News Sheet

Tyres fly-tipped on Salisbury Plain

This photo shows a large pile of tyres, most of them from motorcycles, which were fly-tipped recently on Salisbury Plain. It is not the first case of its kind. The MOD Salisbury Plain News Sheet has reported previous cases of household and commercial waste being dumped on the Plain.

Can you help? If you see, or are aware of, fly-tipping taking place on the Plain, please ring our complaints line (01980 620819) and we will involve the Ministry of Defence Police in seeking to find evidence to bring these people to court.

Illegal and Expensive

Fly-tipping is illegal. Removal and disposal costs fall entirely to HQ DTE Salisbury Plain's budget. Such costs could in reality mean a soldier on operations not having the proper life-saving equipment to protect him/herself. Help us to identify fly-tippers. Tidworth and Ludgershall Parish Councils are mounting a Rubbish Action Plan (RAP) to highlight, specifically targeting local schools, how domestic and commercial rubbish should be disposed of legally.

MOD is very supportive of this campaign and is participating actively in it.
